Dead Man’s Hand Design
The medal takes the form of a fanned set of playing cards, displaying the famous combination of black aces and eights known as the Dead Man’s Hand.
According to Wild West legend, this was the poker hand held by gunslinger and lawman Wild Bill Hickok when he was killed during a game in Deadwood in 1876. Ornate detailing and bold DEAD MAN’S HAND lettering complete the dramatic frontier-inspired design.
High-Relief Finish
The high-relief production technique gives the playing cards, suit symbols and decorative elements exceptional depth. The raised surfaces contrast against the recessed background, creating a substantial and highly detailed copper collectible.
Limited Mintage of 8,118
Only 8,118 Dead Man’s Hand Copper Medals have been produced worldwide.
The distinctive mintage number reflects the legendary combination of eights and aces—represented numerically as 8-1-1-8—giving the production limit an additional connection to the medal’s theme.
Protective Capsule
Each medal is supplied in a fitted protective capsule, helping preserve its detailed high-relief finish while allowing the complete shaped design to remain visible.
