The Kraken Reverse Design
The reverse features a dramatic close-up depiction of the Kraken, the legendary sea creature described in maritime folklore as resembling an enormous octopus or squid.
A sailing ship is trapped within one of the creature’s powerful tentacles, while the surrounding water captures the chaos associated with ancient stories of the Kraken creating whirlpools capable of sinking entire vessels.
Mythical Creatures Obverse
The obverse presents the Public Seal of Niue at the centre of a ship’s wheel.
Surrounding the wheel are representations of other legendary beings featured throughout the Mythical Creatures series. The inscriptions include the coin’s weight, silver purity, one-dollar denomination, issuing country and 2026 year of issue.
